Ah Wei, a young woman from rural China, decides to cross the U.S.-Mexico border through the underground tunnel to reunite with her husband in the United States. She soon realizes the journey is not about the crossing, but about mending the discrepancies between expectations and reality once she gets there.

Synopsis:
Arcadio, an acclaimed novelist in his late 70s, is stuck with the very last line for a character in this long overdue semi-autobiographical novel. Jean, a free-spirited young literature student, is hired to type for him as his vision is declining.
In the world of this novel, Miguel the protagonist is a middle-aged refugee who is recalling the first time he meets his wife, Nelly. When Miguel has been thrown out of the boat that he was illegally immigrating in, in that middle of a life-or-death moment amidst the ocean, he sees Nelly, later to become his wife, emerges from the ocean, facing the same danger as Miguel. And strangely, Nelly says…
Puzzled by this missing piece, Arcadio and Jean embark on a quest within Arcadio’s confined mansion, hoping to find out this crucial moment for the both of them.
